October Favourites

I know this blog post is long overdue and I know we are now officially in November (where has this year gone?), but I still needed to share with you my October Favourites!

As always, I will be sharing my favourites of last month and it will be split up into different sections, so there is something for everybody.

1) HairOctober FavouritesSource:www.feelunique.com
The first section is hair. Recently, I have been having some serious troubles with my hair. It had become really dry and knotty, and I used to have to leave about 1 day before I would have to re-wash my hair as it was so dry. Therefore, I decided I needed to change up the products I was using. Previously, I had used the Aussie Shampoo and Conditioner set, and it was amazing for my hair, so I decided to repurchase it. As there was a offer on with 3 products for £10, I decided on the Aussie Shampoo, Conditioner and Leave-In Conditioner. Since buying these products and using them on my hair, I have noticed a massive difference in the feeling and texture the products have done to my hair. The Shampoo and Conditioner are very thick, which means you don't have to use a lot of the product on your hand, which makes them last a long time. All the products smell amazing and have reduced the amount of time I need until I choose to re-wash my hair. The dryness of my hair has gone and it is less knotty. I love the Leave-In Conditioner as well as you can decide to use it on both dry or wet hair. Plus, each of the Aussie products specialise in a particular hair treatment, so if you have weak, distressed hair or dry hair like mine, then there is a product suited to your hair needs.

2) Beauty

October Favourites
I have picked up three more beauty products last month which I am currently loving and I have in-cooperated in my daily make-up routine. These products are great for people who are just starting out in make-up like myself, but also are affordable as well. They are all Rimmel products, as I am personally loving Rimmel at the moment. The first beauty product is the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder - £3.99. I did not own a powder before but I really wanted to get one. I have heard of the Stay Matte powder from Youtubers and the reviews they gave were positive, so I decided to try it out for myself. I would recommend this to anybody. It keeps all your foundation and concealer in place for the entire day. It is a very natural product and is light-weight. The second beauty product I got last month was the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer - £5.49. As with the powder, I had heard about this product from YouTube and I already have the Wake Me Up Foundation and really love that, so I decided to get a new concealer. This is really good, it has a great applier which makes it easy to use. It conceals blemishes, spots and under eye circles, while still looking natural. The final beauty product is the Rimmel London Colour Rush Balm - £5.99. The colour I chose is not the one featured above. I decided on the colour Not An Illusion - 700, which is a autumnal colour, sort of like a slightly dark brown colour. These are so easy to use as they are in the shape of a crayon. They are not messy and do not go everywhere, like some lipsticks can. The Balms moisturise your lips, while adding a slight colour. They have them in a range of colours, from light pinks to dark purples. I find they can dry and give a slight matte look but I personally don't mind that, also the colour I chose smells like chocolate which is so nice.

3) Fashion

I haven't done a section on fashion before, but I did have some favourites that I bought recently. During the half term, I took a trip to Westfield to do some shopping, and I practically spent all my money. I bought a number of things but out of all the things I bought, these two items were my favourite and I can't stop wearing them. The first fashion favourite of October was this long-sleeved crop top from Urban Outfitters. Urban Outfitters is one of my favourite shops, but I always find it expensive, therefore when I do chose to buy something it is normally a treat and something that I would keep on wearing for a long time. I love the acid wash effect this top has. It is in one of my favourite colours but the gold toned detailing makes me love it even more. The cropness of the top is not extreme at all, which was amazing as I don't like crop tops in particular. I really like the high neck and how baggy the top is, which makes it super comfortable to wear. The sleeves of the top are really long but I like that as it adds to the comfort and makes me feel really cosy. Finally, the material of the top is medium, it isn't really thick, but it isn't really thin either, so it is a good balance which means you aren't going to be really hot or cold in this top. I would definitely recommend this to anyone and I think I will get so much use out of this top.

Urban Outfitters - £18 - Staring At Stars Slouchy Acid Tee - Also in Black.

My second fashion item is this animal print sweatshirt from Pull And Bear. I had heard many good reviews from this shop, but had never visited it. As soon as I walked in I found about 10 things I instantly fell in love with (I may have asked for some stuff for Christmas!) I love wearing sweatshirts rather than cardigans as I find them so comfortable and can look really nice with a shirt underneath and the collar peeking through. I really liked the unusual print of the bugs on the top. It has a range of insects which include, butterflies, dragonflies, beetles, grasshoppers and hornets. The material inside of the sweatshirt is really fluffy and cosy, which will keep me extra warm when the weather becomes colder.

Pull And Bear - £19.99 - Animal Graphic Sweatshirt

4) TV Shows

The final section in my October Favourites is my TV Shows. I have enjoyed one new show in October that I thought I would share with you.

The show is How To Get Away With Murder. I really love crime TV Shows and get really excited when a new one comes out. How To Get Away With Murder is slightly different than your typical who-done-it shows. The show follows an attorney lawyer called Annalise (pictured below). She teaches a class at a law school to aspiring lawyers, however she names the class 'How To Get Away With Murder'. She recruits a couple of the students to go along with her to different trials and court cases in order to show them how to win the case. Each episode, there is a different trial and the students and Annalise have to try and uncover evidence to win the case. However, there is a twist, the programme switches back to flashbacks. In the flashbacks, the recruited students are trying to get rid of a body (you don't know who it is until the end of the first episode), the audience does not have any idea of who killed the person or why. It can get confusing but it is so different to your run-of-the-mill crime drama, and I am loving it!

Hope you enjoyed this blog post! Let me know what you enjoyed in October.

10 Things I Love About Autumn/Winter

My favourite season has got to be autumn and winter. I love it when the seasons change from summer into autumn as it means the nights draw in and become darker. I get to put away my shorts and sandals and bring out the jeans and boots and I get another excuse to drink more tea!

I thought it would be a nice idea to share with you why I love autumn so much in 10 ways. Trust me, there are loads more but these are just a few.

Let me know in the comments what your favourite season is and why you love that season in particular.

1) Getting to cosy up in loads of blankets

I love it the weather changes from being hot to really cold. I have always loved the cold nights and days of winter and if it snowed I was always out there making the most of it. One thing I love about autumn is getting really snug in the evenings and curling up on the sofa watching some trashy TV, with a blanket and a cup of tea, while it is really cold outside. Even if I am the perfect temperature I still love to grab a blanket to curl up with, just to make myself more cosy.

2) Reading a book

Although you can read books in the summer (which I also love to do), I always prefer reading in the evenings. Before going to sleep, I always like to read another chapter of my book, before switching off the light. This always makes me more sleepy and tired, putting me into the perfect mood to go to sleep. I know you can read a book at any time, but during the summer if you want to read outside or on holiday I always find the sun gets in my eyes and I can never concentrate for long before I find something that distracts me. At the moment I am currently reading Insurgent and am loving every minute of it.

3) Wearing Boots

I love wearing boots when the colder months come along. I am not a big lover of sandals or flip-flops, so when I get to change up my footwear and put away the open-toed shoes and dust off my winter boots, I get extremely excited.

4) Candles

Another aspect of autumn/winter I love is getting to light your candles in the evening. I love the look a simple candle can give to a room and it automatically makes the house more homely and cosy to live in. As well as looking snug, a candle can give off the most amazing smells and scents making it even more enjoyable. My favourite types of scents are normally cinnamon and spice scents as they just remind me of Christmas, putting me in the festive spirit.

5) A Cup Of Tea

I absolutely love tea! I am constantly drinking it, and now that is is officially autumn, it gives me another excuse to drink more tea to keep warm! I love drinking tea when it is cold and wet outside and I'm snug in the warm with a blanket and a good book.

6) Chunky Knits

I think every girl loves it when autumn and winter arrives, and we get to snuggle up in our big chunky jumpers and cardigans to keep us extra warm. I have done a blog post a couple of months ago on A/W Jumpers, and I picked out my favourite jumpers this season, so if you want to read that, then click here

7) Movie Nights

I know you can watch movies any time of the year, but when the nights draw in and it is horrible weather outside, you can snuggle up on the sofa, switch on a chick flick, grab a cup a tea, blanket and hoodie and watch a good old movie, to distract you from the rain and wind outside. I am also thinking about doing a blog post of my favourite chick flick/romantic comedy films, so let me know in the comments if you would like to see that.

8) Rainy Days

Another thing I love about autumn/winter is the weather. This might sound so weird that I love horrible, wet and windy weather, but I am not a summer girl. I prefer to be cold than warm any day, so I especially love it when the temperatures drop and the sun goes away and the rain starts to fall. I think part of the reason I don't mind the weather being horrible is because in England, the weather is always raining so I am so used to it.

9) Big Scarves

A massive plus for fall is the fact I can get my scarves out again. I am such a scarf wearer and I have so many of them, so when I have the chance to wear them again, I cannot wait. I love putting on a massive scarf or snood to wear when going outside, as they are so comfortable, cosy and warm, plus they make a great accessory.

10) Winter Nights

And finally.... Winter Nights. I love it when the clocks turn back and it becomes much darker, that way I know that autumn/winter has officially begun. The winter nights are always better when it becomes closer to Christmas as the lights and decorations start to arise and it puts everybody in the festive spirit.

So, those are a couple of things that I love about autumn/winter. Hope you enjoyed this blog post. Let me know in the comments what you love about autumn/winter and what other posts you would like to see me write.

Get The Look: Blair Waldorf

Sorry, I haven't posted in a while, but I have been so busy with school, university applications, coursework, homework etc, so my life has become a little bit hectic at the moment. But, I have finally made some time in my schedule to sit down and write a blog post.

As seen previously, I thought I would continue doing my 'Get The Look' posts, as I really enjoy making them and hopefully you enjoy reading them. Continuing on with my Gossip Girl theme, I decided my next 'Get The Look' is Blair Waldorf - the popular, preppy, smart character in the show. I have already done Serena van Der Woodsen, so if you would like to see how to get her style, then click here.

Personally, I think my style is very similar to Blair's than Serena, as I really enjoy wearing quite preppy clothing, with peter pan collars, skater skirts and a tailored coat. Therefore, I love watching another episode of Gossip Girl, as I like to see what Blair is going to be wearing as she always manages to pull off any look perfectly.

As with my blog post on Serena, there are going to be three different looks that Blair wears during the show, I will be showing you where you can get a similar look for much cheaper on the high-street.

Hope you enjoy!

1) Spring/Summer Outfit
Get The Look: Blair Waldorf
Top - Yellow Curve Hem Keyhole Back Top - £12.99 - New Look - (Also in Black, Grey, Winter White, Blue, Plum, Spicy Orange)
Skirt - Grey Floral Print Pleated Mini Skirt - £25 - River Island
Heels - Glory Suede High Heel Shoes - WAS - £58 NOW - £30 - Topshop
Bag - Light Pink Croc Mini Cross Body Bag - £20 - River Island
Bracelet - Gold Gemstone Flower Stretch Bracelet - £7.99 - New Look

Although summer is over and autumn is upon us, I thought I would still share a spring/summer outfit of Blair's, as this was one of my favourites. Although I couldn't get the exact same outfit as Blair's I did try to get similar items that would still make the perfect Blair outfit. A bright yellow top really makes this outfit stand out, paired with a patterned skirt, it adds more drama and volume to the look. While keeping the top similistic, it makes the bottom half more exciting and dramatic. I love the shoes Blair paired with this look. The pop of orange adds another hint of colour. I found more of a darker tone of orange instead, which would be perfect to wear this autumn! Blair keeps jewellery to a minimal as the skirt is the main vocal point. I chose a simple gold bracelet with a flower pattern which have similar colours to the skirt. I could not find a orange bag anywhere, or the ones I could find I didn't like. Instead, I picked a light pink to tie the whole outfit together.

2) Autumn/Winter Outfit
Get The Look: Blair Waldorf
Coat - Double Breasted Wool Coat - £89 - Miss Selfridge
Gloves - Black Leather Long Gloves - £30 - River Island
Heels - Bright Yellow Angular Court Shoes - £45 - River Island (Also in Black and White Snake, Black, and Navy)
Scarf - Monochrome Houndstooth Oversized Scarf - £12.99 - New Look
Bag - Tres Chic Clutch - £16 - Miss Selfridge

The second look of Blair's is more suitable for this season, especially with the oversized coat, which is this year's trendiest style. Blair begins her look with a bright green oversized coat which is the main focal point of the entire look. I could not find a similar coat to Blair's so I opted for a lighter shade of green instead, which I personally prefer rather than Blair's bright colour. Blair adds bright accessories to the look which detract from the coat. The bright neon yellow bag and shoes draw your attention, and I managed to find some similar shoes to Blair's from River Island. Instead of getting a handbag, I chose a clutch instead which makes the look more wearable for the evening. Blair finishes the look with some long gloves and a scarf to make her more warm. I found a checked scarf which I think would look perfect with the mint green coat and the bright accessories. To complete the look, I found some leather black gloves, just like Blair's.

3) The Preppy Look
Get The Look: Blair Waldorf
Blouse - Long Sleeve Cotton Shirt - £20 - Topshop
Skirt - Navy Belted Skater Skirt - £12.99 - New Look (Also in, Black, Grey, and Purple)
Pumps - White Studded Toe Cap Slipper Shoes - £30 - River Island (Also in Blue)
Socks - 2 Pack Navy Knee High Socks - £2.99 - New Look (Also in Warm Grey)
Headband - Gold Tone Double Row Alice Band - £5 - River Island

The final look of Blair's has got to be my favourite. I could probably see myself wearing this outfit as I absolutely love wearing blouses with a cute skater skirt. Blair represents the perfect student in this outfit and showcases the ideal school uniform for all girls. A crisp, white, fitted blouse is my favourite item to wear at the moment, as you can pair it with anything and everything and it still looks like you put so much effort into your look. A skater skirt in a block colour adds some colour to the look. Blair keeps hers at a neutral colour as she is at school. However, at New Look you can get one similar to Blair's in a wide range of colours. For accessories, Blair adds some knee-high socks to add to the schoolgirl/preppy look and some white pumps. I chose some pumps with a gold toe cap to add some extra detail to the look. Finally, Blair finishes the look off with her signature hair band, so I obviously had to finish mine off with one as well.

Which look of Blair's was your favourite?

September Favourites

I can's believe it is already October and soon 2014 will be another year over. This is my first ever favourites blog post, but lately there have been some things I have been loving over the past month and I thought I would just blog about it.

There have been a mixture of things I have loved last month, from skincare to TV. I will be sharing with you my favourites of September!

I will try and do one post of my favourites each month, some may be more longer than others, depending on what I have been loving at that current moment. As this is my first favourites, there will be quite a few things but just bare with and you never know there might be some items that you might want to try out for yourself.

1) Skincare

Lately I have been having a few outbreaks on my face in particular, so I thought I would start to have a skincare routine, just so my face has the right amount of attention that everything else has. For me personally and for most teenagers, there is nothing worse than breaking out in spots as you become more aware and self-conscious of your face. Plus, it doesn't matter about the amount of make-up you apply to cover up that spot, you still know it is there.
Ever since I have been maintaining a skincare routine, I have noticed a considerable difference in my face and acne. I still get the occasional spot, like everybody else, but I don't have a massive outbreak. All of the products I use are from the drugstore and nothing is expensive. All of my skincare is Simple products as I find it is soft on my skin, good quality and I notice a difference to my skin after using the products over time.

September Skincare Favourites

1) Simple Kind To Skin Moisturising Facial Wash - £3.49 - Boots

The first thing I like to use when I wake up in the morning or after I have taken my make-up off is the Facial Wash by Simple. This makes me feel so refreshed and clean after having a face full of make-up or to wake me up in the morning. This product makes your skin feel thoroughly cleansed and moisturised and is even perfect for sensitive skin. All you have to do is wash your face first, add a small amount of the facial wash in your hands, rub it together and apply onto your face, then wash away.

2) Simple Kind To Skin Soothing Facial Toner - £3.29 - Boots

This is my favourite product of September by far. After I have come out of the shower or when I have woken up and can't be bothered using the Facial Wash, I apply this Simple Toner. All your have to do is get a cotton pad and put some of the toner onto the pad and smoothly rub into your face. The Toner helps your skin feel clarified and refreshed, and is perfect for sensitive skin. Plus, it is perfect to use in the morning and evening as it isn't harsh on your skin.

3) Simple Kind To Eyes Eye Make-Up Remover - £3.49 - Boots

Another really good Simple product is the Eye Remover. I bought the miniature version of this first to test it out and see if I liked it before I bought the larger version. Like all the Simple products, this one doesn't disappoint. Apply a few dabs of the liquid onto a cotton pad and apply to your eyes and it removes your eye make-up quickly, easily and mess-free! It can even remove waterproof mascara and is perfect for sensitive skin!

4) Simple Kind To Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser - £1.50 - Boots

The final product in my Simple favourites of the month is the moisturiser. Again, I purchased this in a smaller bottle to test it out and it is a really light moisturiser which does not feel heavy on the skin. By applying this, it keeps your skin feeling moisturised and pampered, and carries on working for 12 hours.

At the moment in Boots stores and on line, there is a offer on all Simple products. 3 for 2 across all selected facial skincare, hand & body, No7, indulgent bathing, vitamins and minis - cheapest free.

2) Beauty

In September, I only had the one make-up item that was my favourite. As I am new to using make-up, I don't have tonnes and tonnes of it, so I can't judge my make-up products against previous ones. I judge my make-up products on what others have said and whether it is good or not, before investing in it myself.

Source uk.rimmellondon.com

So, my favourite beauty product of September was the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in 100 Ivory. This foundation is so easy to apply to your face, plus you don't even need a lot as it blends really well and covers your face perfectly. It has a great coverage and looks really natural on your skin. I love the packaging of the foundation as well, it is in a glass bottle with a bright orange top, making it easier to find in your make-up bag. Another great thing about this foundation is that it is a pump which makes it less messy than a foundation in which you have to pour. I would recommend this foundation to anybody, but when I eventually run out I will probably choose a different foundation, not because it wasn't good, but I would like to try out different foundations which I have also heard are good. This foundation is currently £8.99 in Boots, but it also has an offer in which you get a free gift when you spend £10 or more on selected Rimmel products

3) Hair

My hair is something I have always struggled with as a child and now as a teenager. I wasn't very adventurous with my hair but I have lately been trying to keep it in the best possible condition, but also trying something new as well. I have never experimented with my hair, but recently I have been gradually going lighter tones with my hair, and I am loving it. As well as lightening my hair, I have been trying to grow it as well, and ensuring it is well kept with regular trims.
I have two favourites regarding hair in September, the first is the Batiste Dry Shampoo in Original - £2.99 from Boots (Offer: On line only - Free Haircare leaflet when you buy selected haircare products)
This product is perfect if you didn't have time to wash your hair the night before or if your hair feels a little bit greasy in the morning. By applying this to the roots of your hair and gently rubbing it in, it makes your hair smell amazing but also as if you have washed your hair. I have always been apprehensive over dry shampoos as I didn't think they would be any good, or feel any different, but I was mistaken. For only £2.99 for a large bottle, it is well worth the money. I bought mine about 3 months ago, and I still have a large amount left as you don't require a lot in your hair to do the job. They are available in a wide range of scents and colours. I also have the tropical one which smells like coconut.

My second hair favourite of September was the Tangle Teezer - £10.99 - Boots

Since being a child I have always experienced frizzy hair, which has led me to have knots which occur. After investing in a tangle teezer, I don't think I would ever go back to a normal brush as this is a work of genius. After washing my hair, I use this brush to get rid of all the knots that have occurred and it is so easy and quick to use. It is small and compacted meaning it is great to pack if you go away somewhere. Although it is quite expensive for a brush, it is a great investment as you don't need to use it for long, until you have have smooth, tangle-free hair.

4) TV Shows

Recently I have been watching some new shows, but also some series are coming to a close and I thought I would share my opinion of these shows, and you never know, you might want to try and watch some of them.

1. Faking It

Source : www.hollywoodreporter.com

This is a brand new series on MTV and only two episodes have aired so far, so if you do want to watch this show, you will be able to catch up quickly. Basically, it is about these two best friends called Karma and Amy who really want to be popular at high school. They are invited to a house party, where it is believed that the two girls are a lesbian couple. They are nominated to be homecoming queens, and quickly become popular. However, Karma fancies a boy called Liam (pictured above), while Amy begins to have growing feelings for Karma. This show is so good and I am loving it at the moment. It is the perfect chick-flick show and so easy to watch. It has some amusing parts and some eye-candy from Liam (who has also appeared in Wizards of Waverly Place)

2. Awkward

Source: seriesblog.tv

Another MTV show which has aired again for its fourth season. This is another easy-to-watch show and is perfect for any girl who loves chick-flick films. This show follows social outcast, Jenna Hamilton, who receives a 'confrontation' letter, which results in an accident, which looks as if she tried to commit suicide. The seasons progress with Jenna dealing with boy troubles, best friend fall outs, and vents all of her problems out in her own blog. Plus, there is more eye-candy in the shape of Matty.

3. Desperate Housewives

Source: au.tv.yahoo.com

I know this is quite an old series but I have nearly finished all eight seasons of this show. I am so sad it is coming to the end as I have enjoyed every second of it, and have had a few surprises along the way as well. It reminds me of Pretty Little Liars in a way, but an older version. The show takes place on Wisteria Lane, and follows the lives of a group of women seen through the eyes of their dead neighbour and best friend, who committed suicide in the very first episode. The show follows the lives of Gabriella, Susan, Lynette and Bree for 13 years throughout the eight seasons. It shows their domestic struggles and family life, while dealing with murders, mysteries and secrets. Although it has a lot of seasons, you will quickly become addicted, especially after the first episode, you will start to ask questions and then, you will just have to keep watching in order to find out.

4. Made In Chelsea

Source: platform-online.net

This is very much an English show, and I have just started watching it. I am currently on season three out of seven and am a little bit of addicted, as you do become a little bit absorbed into their lives. The show is based on the lives of affluent young people in West London. The show also follows the people on their travels to exotic locations including Dubai, Cannes, Amsterdam and South Africa. It contains lots of romances, break-ups, bitching and lots more.

5. The Great British Bake Off

Source: www.hellomagazine.com

My final favourite of September is The Great British Bake Off. Another very English show and extremely popular in the UK. Every year when the Bake Off has aired once more, probably every television in the UK will be tuned in to watch this competition of baking. On the front it does seem very boring, a competition about baking, but in fact it is one of the most tense and exciting shows, who knew there could be so much drama when it comes to baking?
The show is a competition for amateur bakers to fight against each other to win the title of Great British Bake Off. Each episode focuses on a different aspect of baking, for example, one week could be cakes and the next pies. The show features in three rounds: the first is the Signature Bake - a bake using a tried and tested recipe the baker has practised many times before. The next round is the Technical - a recipe is provided by the judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood. However, the recipe is sparse and the bakers need to use their intuition to decide what is right. The bakers are not told before hand what the challenge is. The judges also judge the bakes blind as everyone has been given the same recipe, and then the judges rank the bakers from worst to best. The final round is the Show Stopper - a bake designed to impress the judges. This is my favourite part of the show as it is where the bakers get to show off their skills and I love seeing what the bakes look like at the end.

So, those are all my September favourites. Hope you enjoyed this post. Let me know what you loved in September.

Get The Look: Serena Van Der Woodsen

Ever since I started watching Gossip Girl I was so inspired by the girls fashion, hair and beauty that appeared in the show. Blair, Serena, Jenny and Vanessa have all inspired me in some way through their sense of style. Blair had the most smart and preppy look, Vanessa has her boho/hippy style and Jenny with her Gothic and grunge look. However, Serena, the most popular and glamorous girl in the whole show is my favourite by far and therefore I felt that I had to dedicate a blog post to her.

As I have nearly completed all six seasons of Gossip Girl and sadly it is coming to an end, I decided I would show you three different looks that Serena has featured wearing in the show, and thought I would find similar items you could get from the high-street, for so much cheaper than Serena's actual outfit.

1) Work/Smart Outfit
1) Skirt - Vero Moda Light Pink Pleated Skater Skirt - WAS - £32 - NOW - £16 - New Look
2) Top - Cream Lace Fringed Hem Cross Back - WAS - £14.99 - NOW - £7 - New Look
3) Shoes - Deep Red Platform Court Shoes - £19.99 - New Look (Also in Black and Pale Blue
4) Bag - Stingray Effect Mini Zip Holdall - £36 - Topshop
5) Necklace - Gold Tone Teardrop Pearl Necklace - £25 - River Island

In the first look I picked of Serena she is wearing a knee-length pastel pink skirt which would be perfect for the transitional seasons from summer to autumn. Also, as we have been having some warm weather in England at the moment, this would be the perfect item to wear. She teamed the skirt with a lace strappy top which looked so lovely together as a combo. Although the weather isn't warm enough to wear a strappy top, you could swap this for a blouse or baggy t-shirt, which would still look very clean and sophisticated, plus perfect for work or a lunch date. Serena dressed the look up with some high heel burgundy shoes which are my favourite part of the outfit. This colour screams out autumn to me and would look perfect with anything this season. You could swap the high heels for flats or some boots for a more day-to-day look. Serena finishes the look off with a statement necklace. I could not find a similar one to Serena's so I opted for a pearl and gold necklace instead, which I personally think looks slightly better than Serena's. Her bag was a grey block colour with a handle and strap, but I chose a cream coloured bag instead, to keep in with the pastel colours in the outfit. For extra warmth, you could copy Serena's style and choose a furry gilet or add a grey oversized coat.
Get The Look: Serena Van Der Woodsen
2) Casual/Lunch Date Outfit
1) Top - Teal Longline T-Shirt - £14.99 - New Look (Also in Black, Winter White, Plum, Spicy Orange and Aubergine
2) Skirt - Grey Leather-Look Mini Skirt - £25 - River Island (Also in Silver and Dark Red
3) Boots - Grey Double Buckle Biker Boots - £24.99 - New Look (Also in Black
4) Bag - Dark Red Zip Side Slouch Bag - £35 - River Island (Also in Light Pink
5) Necklace - Large Beaded Flower Collar - £25 - Topshop

Serena's second look was more casual than the previous but she still manages to look smart at the same time. I couldn't find a top that looked similar to Serena's so I chose this teal smart t-shirt from New Look instead. Serena paired her shirt with a leather mini-skirt, which seems a little daring but would look perfect with the colour of the shirt. If you are not comfortable in leather, then why not pair it with a skater skirt or some trousers for a different casual look. Serena added some grey boots to make her outfit look more relaxed and I found some gorgeous biker boots from New Look which would look great this season. A burgundy handbag adds a pop of autumn colour. I wasn't too keen on Serena's necklace but I found this flowery statement necklace from Topshop, which I thought would look perfect with the colour of the shirt.

3) Autumn/Winter Outfit
1) Jacket - Slouchy Longline Blazer - £58 - Topshop
2) Jumper - Enamel Necklace Jumper - £46 - Topshop
3) Skirt - Staring At Stars Border Crinkle Skirt - £38 - Urban Outfitters
4) Pumps - Sandylion Slipper Shoes - £24 - Topshop
5) Bag - Suede Alba Hobo Bag - £60 - Topshop

The last outfit I chose of Serena's was another work outfit, however, this time it is much more autumn/winter friendly, rather than the first one. The colour palette in Serena's look is grey which can appear quite boring and bland, however Serena adds some dimension to her look through the pattern on the skirt. Serena kept the top half of her look quite basic with a simple grey jumper, however I could see some detailing at the top. I found this Topshop jumper with a necklace detailing which looked almost identical to Serena's. The skirt had to be the main focal point in the look, so I changed it up a bit and chose this black patterned skirt which I instantly fell in love with. The grey oversized blazer made the look appear more relaxed. As you can't see the shoes Serena is wearing I decided to pick the shoes I think would go best with this outfit. I decided on some burgundy pumps with a gold detailing to add some class and colour to the look. I finished off the look with a brown suede bag, perfect for this season.

A/W14 Trousers

With the seasons changing, it's time to ditch the shorts, and invest in some trousers/leggings. I love wearing trousers, and as I'm in my final year of sixth form, I have noticed I love buying patterned trousers, either with a checked or striped print. I find these types of trousers with the cuffed end so flattering and perfect to wear with a blouse and blazer.

Below are some of my favourite trousers I found when searching the high-street stores, and in fact one pair of trousers I actually own, so I can give you a accurate review of them.

A/W14 Trousers

1) Pinstripe Peg Leg Trousers - Topshop - £42

These trousers are so versatile for A/W, especially as the monocrome trend has been so big this year, and it is not going away just yet. Although the price is quite expensive for a pair of trousers, I think that you would get so much wear out of these trousers, especially for work, sixth form, college or uni. These trousers would look perfect paired with a white or black blouse, blazer and some brogues for a smart look or a crop top or plain white or black t-shirt for a more relaxed, casual look. Plus, you can't go wrong with a monocrome look as it will never die out and will always look bang on trend.

2) Khaki Floral Trousers - River Island - £32

A more bold print for the more daring of you. Again, these trousers would be perfect to wear for a smart occasion. As the bottoms are quite colourful and patterned, you need to keep the top half plain and simple as the trousers are the main focus. Pair with a white crop top and brogues for a relaxed daytime look.

3) Purple Check Slim Leg Trousers - New Look - £19.99

New Look recently have been producing some great clothes, especially for A/W. When I was browsing through their website for this blog post, I could not believe the amount of trousers I fell in love with. It was so hard to choose, but I opted for these dark purple and navy checked trousers. These colours scream out A/W and again would be perfect with a blouse and brogues for work or school. Also, they are 'slim leg' which means they are quite clingy, which I love in trousers, and find it hard to discover a pair which fit me perfectly.

4) Purple Zig Zag Print Slim Leg Trousers - New Look - £19.99

I own these trousers in this print which I purchased quite a while ago now. If you are unsure about this colour they do have them in a Blue Pattern. But, I personally preferred this colour to the blue, I have worn these trousers so much as they are so comfortable. They look just like leggings, but in fact they are trousers! They have the same material and are very clingy and tight, like leggings but have the zipper and button, like trousers. I have paired my trousers with a cream smock dress and denim coat with pumps which makes me look like I have put in a lot of effort into what I am wearing, when in fact it only took me 2 minutes!

5) Scuba Dogtooth Tube Trousers - Miss Selfridge - £25

I have thrown a pair of leggings into the mix as well, which are again in monocrome. These leggings would be perfect for a relaxed day at home, where they are comfortable but still stylish. Plus, you can easily glam these leggings up if your decide to go out. Add some black heels and a peplum top for a night out, or some Converse, baggy top or jumper for a casual look.

Hope you enjoyed this blog post. What pair of trousers are your favourite?

A/W14 Jumpers

As the summer is nearly over and we say goodbye to shorts, strappy tops and sandals and replace them with jumpers, coats and trousers, I decided to create some posts on this years' A/W essentials. As we all start to pack away our summer clothes and start to dig up the old cosy jumpers, I thought I would show you some of this season's trends and just in case, you wanted to go on a little shopping trip in order to buy some jumpers, this post gives you a little heads up on what is out there on the high street.

Autumn is one of my favourite seasons. I love wearing over sized jumpers, boots, big coats and snuggling up under blankets with a cup of tea. Therefore, I cannot wait for the season to change so I can start to enjoy autumn.

One of my favourite pieces of clothing is wearing jumpers. I think that a jumper can transform an outfit from being quite simple to more sophisticated and smart. It can also add a splash of colour and keep you warm at the same time!

A/W14 Jumpers

1) Light Blue Boucle Slouchy Jumper - £25 - River Island

Pastel colours are really in this A/W and this duck-egg blue colour is perfect. I think this is the perfect transitional jumper to take you from summer to autumn due to the light colour and mid-length arms. This would look perfect either by itself or with a blouse underneath paired with jeans for a casual look or a pencil/skater skirt for a more smart look. The over sized slouchy jumper makes it more comfortable and less clingy, enabling you to move around in it more without feeling restricted.

2) Pink Knit Brushed Texture Jumper - £19.99 - New Look

Another pastel toned jumper for you guys, but this time in a blushed pink colour. If you aren't keen on this colour, then check out the one in Mint Green. This jumper looks super cosy for the A/W and would be very versatile to make casual or smart. I loved the look of the material of this particular jumper as it has quite big holes to add more texture and made it look super comfortable and slouchy. Perfect for a cold winter night!

3) Navy Pembridge and Rose Flecked Cable Knit Crop Jumper - £19.99 - New Look

This jumper reminds me of an old grandpa knitted jumper, which I love. This jumper is different than the previous two as it is cropped with mid-length arms, however, this would be another perfect transitional piece for A/W. Although the material does appear quite thick, this would be great for cold mornings, just to quickly put on and keep you warm until the day brightens up in the afternoon. The mid-length arms allows you to have a bit of air to prevent you from getting too hot. Also, the fact that the jumper is cropped also prevents you from getting hot making you more comfortable throughout the day. If you are not sure about the colour of this jumper, then check it out in Cream and Wedgewood Blue

4) Vero Moda Red Contrast Knitted Jumper - £19.99 - New Look

As you have probably noticed this is another New Look jumper. I think that New Look is my favourite high-street shop at the moment, they have so great stuff in store and online. I can go into any New Look store and always find something, no matter what (whether that is a good thing or not I don't know). But, it was so hard to pick jumpers for this post as I just saw so many that I loved and wanted to feature but we would be here all day if I did that. However, go and check out the web site now and see for yourself, you are guaranteed to find something you love. Anyway, this jumper is another slouchy and over sized jumper, but I think this is probably my favourite one out of all 5 jumpers featured. I really love the bright red and dark brown contrast on this jumper that simply represents autumn to me. I could see myself wearing this jumper with some leggings and boots and being super comfortable and cosy at the same time. If you don't like these colours, then check it out in Black Pattern

5) Necklace Jumper - £46 - Topshop

I felt that I had to put a high-end jumper on the list as well, just to even things up. This jumper from Topshop is quite a plain grey material but it has a cute statement necklace piece. This enables you not to have to pair any jewellery with the outfit as the neckline adds plenty of sparkle and drama to the jumper. This would be ideal for a smart look paired with a skirt or trousers.

Hope you enjoyed this post and gave you some ideas for jumpers this A/W.

This Summer's Bikini Guide: Part 3

Although the summer has nearly finished for another year, I still needed to upload the final part of my Summer Bikini Guide. Most of us are heading back to school/college/uni or work soon, or you might already be back. In that case, this blog post might be a bit out-of-date for now, but I'm sure it will come in handy next year if you are heading abroad and need a few ideas swimwear wise!

For those of you that are heading on holiday soon or going away for a hot weekend, then this is my final part of my Swimwear Guide.

The final part is focussing on more covered up bikini/swimwear. Some females aren't confident enough to have all their wears and tears showing, so I have chosen and picked out the perfect cover-up swimsuits, so you still look beautiful, fashionable, but, most importantly, feel confident in your swimwear.
This Summer's Bikini Guide: Part 3

1) Purple Aztec Crochet Cut Out Swimsuit - £19.99 - New Look

I really loved this swimsuit when I first saw it and I couldn't help sharing it with you guys. I love the fall autumny colours: the browns, greens, beige and purples. I think this swimsuit would be perfect if you are going away during the autumn. It has two cut-out panels on the sides and an exposed back, so if you are confident showing off your body then this would be perfect for you!

2) Kelly Brook Navy and White Polka Dot Frill Swimsuit - WAS £24.99 - NOW £14.00 - New Look

This blue and white polka dot swimsuit reminds me of 40s swimwear, with the frilly skirt and the bows. This swimsuit is perfect for those of you who want to be covered up a bit more but still look feminine and girly.

3) Minkpink Daisy Print Swimsuit - £68.00 - Urban Outfitters

Another swimsuit I really loved is this navy blue one with daisies on it. This is more on the higher end of swimsuits and is expensive but if you go on holiday a lot or travelling this year, then you probably would get a lot of wear out of it. Plus, normally if it is quite expensive it usually is very good quality as well, which is what you want from a swimsuit. This swimsuit gives a lot more support than the previous ones as it is a very simple shape and style but with the daisies added on it, it just makes it look so much more exciting rather than simple.

4) Black Floral Mesh Insert Swimsuit - £30.00 - River Island

A more subtle swimsuit is this black floral strapless swimsuit. This is perfect for those of you that want something more sophisticated yet classy and also not too loud. It is quite fitted and also features a mesh detailing around the waist. It also comes with detachable straps, so you can add these when you are in the pool and then remove them to prevent any tan lines from occurring.

5) Kelly Brook Red Polka Dot Open Back Swimsuit - WAS £24.99 - NOW £14.00 - New Look

Another 40s swimsuit, however this time it is in this bright red colour. This swimsuit is similar to the blue one above, however does not feature the frilly bit or the bow.

6) Bright Pink Poly Skin Studded Slipper Shoe - £45.00 - River Island

The first accessory I chose for these swimsuits are these bright pink slipper shoes. I loved the bright colour of these shoes making them stand out from the rest of the outfit. I really liked the little silver studs added on them as well, which makes them less girly. Also, I think you could wear these not only in the summer but also in the autumn/winter months as well. Pair them with some black skinny jeans and a striped jumper for a really cool and on-trend look. If you don't like the bright pink pair then they are also in Brown Animal and Silver Glittery.

7) Palolem Beach Shorts in Turquoise Print - WAS £30.00 - NOW £15.00 - Urban Outfitters

I love these shorts when I first saw them. Firstly I really liked the colours as turquoise is my favourite colour so that was so good. I think they would be perfect to throw on after you get out of the pool, or just to quickly put on if you are heading somewhere on your holiday, either going to the beach, shopping or sightseeing. They don't look clingy and so would be really comfortable to wear, especially when it is really hot outside.

Hope you enjoyed my guide on this summer's bikinis and I hope it has helped some of you out this summer as well.
